Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data the Grammar TOP app and the website supergrammar.info collect, why, and what rights you have. We keep the data we collect to the minimum the app needs.

1. Who we are

Grammar TOP is operated by Avantis, s.r.o., Pekná cesta 19, 831 52 Bratislava, Slovakia (also known as Avantis Mobile). We are the controller of your personal data. Contact: avantis.apps@gmail.com.

2. What this policy covers

This policy covers the Grammar TOP app on iOS, iPadOS, macOS and Android, and this website. Grammar TOP version 4.0 is a new app that works differently from earlier versions. Sections 3 to 6 describe version 4.0 and later. Section 7 describes versions 3.x and earlier, which some people still have installed.

3. Data we collect in Grammar TOP 4.0 and later

3.1 No account

You do not need an account, name or email address to use Grammar TOP. Your progress, mistakes, settings and reminder time are stored only on your device. We do not receive them. If you delete the app or use “Delete all data” in the settings, this data is removed from your device.

3.2 Usage analytics

To understand how the course is used and to improve it, the app sends usage events to PostHog, our analytics provider, hosted in the European Union. The events are linked to a random identifier created when you install the app, not to your name or email. We collect:

  • Learning events: onboarding steps, lessons started and completed, whether an answer was correct, use of review and reference tables
  • Subscription events: paywall views, trial starts and purchases (product and price tier, never payment details)
  • Technical data: device model, operating system, app version, and app and device language. The app does not collect your precise location. Like any online service, the services the app connects to see your device’s IP address: our analytics is set up not to determine your location from it, and Adapty uses it to determine your country (section 3.3)
  • Errors that happen in the app, to help us fix them
  • Error reports: when you report a mistake in a lesson or an exercise, we receive which lesson or exercise it was, the answer you gave and the comment you wrote, if any. Please do not include personal information in the comment

We also record a portion of sessions: a recording of the app screens and your taps, used to find places where the app is confusing or broken. The app has no accounts and no fields for personal details, so a recording shows only the lessons, your exercise answers and your taps; password fields, if any, are always masked. Session recording is part of analytics and stops when you switch off “Help improve the app”.

You can turn analytics off at any time: in the app, open Profile and switch off “Help improve the app”. The switch is on by default. While it is off, the app stops sending usage events, reports of errors in the app and session recordings to PostHog. You can switch it back on whenever you like.

Error reports are the one exception, because you choose to send each of them yourself. If you report a mistake while analytics is off, the report is still sent to PostHog, but it is not linked to your app identifier and carries no device or app details: we receive only which lesson or exercise it was, the answer you gave and your comment.

3.3 Purchases and subscriptions

Payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see your card or bank details. To check whether you have Premium and to manage subscriptions and trials, the app uses Adapty. Adapty receives the purchase receipt from the store, the product, price and currency, subscription status and dates, the random app identifier, a device identifier for our apps (IDFV on Apple devices), device model, operating system, app version, your IP address and the country derived from it, and, on Android, your device’s advertising identifier (see section 3.7).

3.4 Reminders

Daily reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. No data is sent to us to deliver them. You can turn them off in the app or in your device settings.

3.5 Pronunciation

Example sentences are read aloud by the speech engine built into your device. The sentences come from the course. The app does not record your voice and does not send anything you type to a speech service.

3.6 Support and feedback

When you email us, including through the feedback option in the app, we receive your email address and your message. The app pre-fills technical details (app version, device, language, subscription status, and a support id that lets us find your purchase record with our subscription provider Adapty) that you can see and edit before sending.

3.7 What we do not do

Grammar TOP 4.0 shows no ads and does not use your device’s advertising identifier for advertising. On Android, Adapty, our subscription provider, receives the advertising identifier together with the purchase data described in section 3.3 and uses it for purchase and subscription analytics. You can reset or delete your advertising identifier at any time in your Android settings (Settings > Privacy > Ads; the exact path depends on your device). On iOS and iPadOS, the app does not ask for permission to track you, so it cannot access your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) and Adapty does not receive it. You can also turn off “Allow Apps to Request to Track” in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking on your iPhone or iPad. We do not sell or rent your personal data.

4. Why we use your data and on what legal basis

  • Providing the app and Premium (checking your subscription, restoring purchases): performance of a contract, GDPR Art. 6(1)(b).
  • Analytics, error reports and fixing errors: our legitimate interest in improving the course and the app, Art. 6(1)(f). You can object at any time (section 9).
  • Answering your emails: performance of a contract or our legitimate interest in helping you, Art. 6(1)(b) and (f).
  • Legal obligations, for example accounting and responding to lawful requests: Art. 6(1)(c).

5. Who we share data with

We share data only with providers that process it on our behalf and under a data processing agreement:

  • PostHog Inc. (United States; with subsidiaries Hiberly Ltd in the United Kingdom and PostHog GmbH in Germany) – product analytics and session recordings, data hosted in the European Union. Receives a pseudonymous identifier, event data, the text of error reports and session recordings. Operates under a Data Processing Agreement. Privacy policy: https://posthog.com/privacy
  • Adapty Tech Inc. (Delaware, United States) – subscription management and paywall analytics. Receives a pseudonymous identifier, subscription events, purchase data, your IP address and country and, on Android, your device’s advertising identifier. Operates under a Data Processing Agreement incorporated into Adapty’s Terms of Service. Privacy policy: https://adapty.io/privacy

Apple and Google process payments and app downloads as independent controllers under their own privacy policies. We may also disclose data when required by law or to protect our rights.

6. Transfers outside the European Union

Some providers are located in the United States. Where data leaves the European Economic Area, we rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Earlier versions (3.x and earlier)

Earlier versions of Grammar TOP (iOS up to 3.6.6, macOS 1.x) required signing in with Apple, Google, Facebook or email and stored your account and progress on our servers. Depending on how you signed in, we received your name, email address and profile photo. These versions also included third-party analytics and advertising tools that could collect device and user identifiers, usage data, purchase history, crash data and approximate location, including for advertising. Updating to version 4.0 stops this: version 4.0 does not use these accounts or tools.

If you used an earlier version and want your account data deleted or want a copy of it, email us from the address you signed in with, or tell us how you signed in.

8. How long we keep data

We keep analytics and subscription data only as long as we need it for the purposes above and then delete or anonymise it. Support emails are kept while the conversation is useful and for up to 3 years afterwards. Records we must keep by law are kept for the legally required period. The text of an error report may be copied, without any identifier, into our internal list of course corrections and kept while the course is maintained.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, and receive it in a portable format. Write to avantis.apps@gmail.com. Because version 4.0 does not know your name or email, we may need your help to find data linked to your device, for example the approximate date you installed the app and your device model. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in Slovakia the Office for Personal Data Protection of the Slovak Republic (dataprotection.gov.sk), or the authority in your country.

You do not need to contact us to stop analytics: switch off “Help improve the app” in the app at any time (section 3.2). To remove your progress and mistakes from your device, use “Delete all data” in the settings.

10. Children

Grammar TOP is intended for users aged 13 and over and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13, and the app does not ask for any personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal data, for example by email, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

Data sent by the app travels over encrypted connections. We limit access to analytics and subscription data to the people who need it to run Grammar TOP.

12. This website

supergrammar.info uses only the cookies that WordPress needs to work. Our hosting provider processes technical data such as IP addresses in server logs to keep the site secure.

13. Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change and change the date at the top. For material changes we will also let you know in the app.
